The Charter School

Excellence for All

Friends of The Charter School

 Who we are

The Friends of The Charter School is run by parent volunteers working closely with school staff to raise funds and support events for the school and the school community.

The money raised by the Friends, through events and other fundraising activities, is used to support extra curricula opportunities for all students by funding equipment and supporting participation.

This year we have organised the Christmas fair, quiz night, an auction, a World Cup screening and BBQ, and drinks for parents in different year groups. We also provided refreshments at many school events.

Here are some examples of how our funds have helped the school in 2017-18:

  • New LED lighting in parts of the school to raise money and save energy through our #LightUpCharter campaign
  • A new year 7 book scheme to support the school’s reading programme;
  • New PE equipment and kit including table tennis bats and football shirts
  • Funding for wider participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Year 8 outward bound activities
  • The shed, furniture and plants in the reading garden
  • An improved PA system with additional microphones for speakers and performances.

New in 2018 – the Friends have started applying for grants

As a registered charity, the Friends has now started applying for grants to help the school raise additional funds for projects, equipment and building improvements that support the school’s development plan. We would welcome help from parents with fundraising or bid writing expertise.

Why not get involved?

All parents and carers are welcome to get involved with The Friends of The Charter School; it’s a great way to meet other parents and support the school, and we always need more willing volunteers.

If you shop online you can raise money for the school at no extra cost to yourself. Simply register on the easyfundraising website with The Friends of The Charter School as your cause. Then when you access your favourite online stores via the easyfundraising website and shop with them they will donate a percentage of your total spend to the school.
