Year 9 Trip to Brussels

Year 9 French and citizenship students visited Brussels for three days last week. The trip was the perfect opportunity to practice their French and to develop a deeper understanding of the European Parliament.

On day 1, after lunch at the nearest ‘Friture’, we made our way to the iconic Atomium museum followed by a visit to ‘Mini Europe’, where pupils explored the miniature models of Europe’s most famous landmarks. On the second day we enjoyed a tour of the city, which included many of the comic strip graffiti painted on Brussels houses, waffles and the Comic book museum. The afternoon saw a visit to a chocolatier to learn more about how chocolate is produced!

On the final day of the trip the students visited the European Parliament where they had the chance to act as MEPs during a workshop about European democracy – Year 9 had to debate laws, attend meetings, argue their cases, and vote for directives.

An enjoyable, educational and tasty time was had by all.
