Outstanding GCSE results

75% gained at least 5 GCSEs grades A to C including English and Maths

Pupils at The Charter School are celebrating their outstanding GCSE results. GCSE and English Baccalaureate results for pupils at The Charter School are consistently much higher than the national average. 32% of all GCSE grades achieved at The Charter School were A*/A.

75% of all students gained at least 5 GCSEs with grades A to C including English and Maths; and 29% of pupils achieved 5A*/A grades in their GCSEs.

43% of pupils gained the English Baccalaureate. 64% of pupils achieved at least one A*/A grade, and 57% of all grades were A* to B. Eleven pupils achieved 10 or more grades A*/A in their GCSEs.

Head teacher Christian Hicks said today “Pupils flourish here regardless of their circumstances. We are delighted with these outstanding GCSE results – which put us among the top performing state schools in the UK. Our Year 11 pupils now have strong foundations for success and happiness in their future lives”

There were some exceptional individual performances including:

Amabel Kader who gained 14 GCSEs, including 4 at grade A* and 8 at grade A

Alex Bottomley who gained 11 GCSEs including 4 at grade A* and 7 at grade A

Alexander Galouzis who gained 12 GCSEs including 7 at grade A* and 5 at grade A

Kate Bernal who gained 10 GCSEs including 5 at grade A* and 5 at grade A

Francis Fennelly who gained 11 GCSEs including 8 at grade A* and 3 at grade A

Lucas Fothergill who gained 11 GCSEs including 7 at grade A* and 4 at grade A

Carwyn Jones who gained 10 GCSEs including 4 at grade A* and 6 at grade A

Tabby Mclachlan who gained 10 GCSEs including 2 at grade A* and 8 at grade A

Ella Pound who gained 10 GCSs including 5 at grade A* and 5 at grade A

Isabel Raikes who gained 11 GCSEs including 8 at grade A* and 3 at grade A

Eleanor Verrier who gained 10 GCSEs including 1 at grade A* and 9 at grade A

Oya Avcin who gained 11 GCSEs including 3 at grade A* and 5 at grade A

Abigail Cheung who gained 12 GCSEs including 4 at grade A* and 4 at grade A

There were significant achievements in grades gained across a range of subjects:

  • 100% A* to C grades were achieved in Music and in Chinese
  • 98% A* to C grades were achieved in Art and 95%  A* to C grades were achieved in English
  • 96% A* to C grades were achieved in Further Science and 80% in Science
  • 95% A* to C grades were achieved in Spanish
  • 92% A* to C grades were achieved in Drama
  • 78% A* to C grades were achieved in Maths
  • 91% A*/A grades were achieved in Music and 88% A*/A grades in Chinese
  • 72% A*/A grades were achieved in Drama
