Exam Success
A number of students achieved exceptional results. Kwabena Adjepong, Ryan Francis, James Brown, Christina Franzeskides and Ciara Littler received A grades in all their subjects. Tim Sylvester achieved two As and two Bs in his four A levels. Most of our students will be starting university courses in October 2008 or are enjoying a gap year before resuming their studies in 2009. We wish them all success in their future careers and we thank them for the wonderful contribution they have made to our school community.
“These exceptional results build strongly for the future of the students as individuals and for the future of the school. We are delighted individuals have done so well, and recognise the improvements students have made in the seven years they have been at The Charter School. All the teachers who have worked so hard with the students for these results and the families of the students are proud of their achievements. We are thrilled at the opportunities this success opens up for them. David Sheppard, Headteacher.
The Charter School has had a fantastic year at GCSE!
The Charter School is today celebrating its best ever GCSE results with a massive 11% increase in the % 5 A*- C including English and Maths figure. This is particularly significant because it is now seen as the key indicator in the success of a school and ensures students have access to the most demanding courses at A Level. We expect our figure of 52% to be ahead of the National Average.
Amongst the outstanding individual results were Connie Lound McGowan, Gabriel Metcalfe, Julia Stier, and Peter Morley who achieved 13 As and A* grades; 4 pupils achieved 11 As and A*s and 5 pupils achieved 10.
- 23% of candidates achieved A* or A in Mathematics
- 60% of pupils achieved A* or A in Music
- 30% achieved A* or A in Drama, Media and French
- 25% achieved A* or A in Geography, History and Latin
- Over 20% achieved A* or A in two Sciences
- 21 subjects had A* – C success rates of over 60% and 6 had A* - C success rates of over 90%.
Our Headteacher David Sheppard said, “These are outstanding results. They reflect great credit on the pupils, their families and their teachers. We have all worked very hard this year to ensure that everyone has done as well as they possibly could. This further endorses the OFSTED comment in 2006 when the school was classed as ‘outstanding’ that ‘the school has a relentless drive for improvement.
Mr Sheppard continued, “Particularly satisfying is, that, as an all inclusive school, 98% of our pupils have gained qualifications. This underlines our ethos of wanting every child to leave school feeling successful. There will be some very happy individuals and very proud parents in the community. The teachers have been focussed on achieving the best for all of our pupils and we have a great deal of success to celebrate.
